Why you can’t take it here — and where you can

Every other test on this site reproduces its questions because they’re text we’re allowed to share. The RMET is different: its 36 items are photographs — cropped eye regions of real people, originally taken from magazines. Those images are copyrighted, so reproducing them here would be neither legal nor in keeping with how this site treats people’s likenesses. That’s the honest reason there’s no calculator on this page.

If you’d like to try it, the Autism Research Centre at Cambridge hosts the original materials, and validated online versions exist. But please read the cautions above first — this is a test it’s especially easy to over-read.
